Interview with MAD MEN Costume Designer Janie Bryant!
Although MAD MEN Season 6 is set in the late 60’s, each character maintains their own signature style developed by Costume Designer Janie Bryant over the past several seasons. Don sticks to his classic suits and striped ties while Joan continues to give new meaning to the “wiggle” dress. Peggy is putting some polish to her mod skirt suits and adding a bit of panache with neck ties and berets while Megan and Harry Crane (MAD MEN’s most fashion-forward characters) really bring a touch of the 70’s with graphic prints, go go boots, mini skirts, bell bottoms and even a...

SG *FASHION FIX* – Best Photos: Keeping it Warm at New York Fashion Week: Nemo
Photo: Tommy Ton     A fashion emergency went into effect in New York this past week as fashion editors, socialites, buyers and bloggers had to trade out their thigh high stilettos and 6-inch platform heels for flat boots and Wellies.   The style tribe kept a close watch on their weather app for Nemo blizzard updates in between loading blurry runway shots to their Instagram feed.   No matter the number of spills on and off the runway, it was clear that the show(s) must go on.   Below is a collection of some of my favorite New York Fashion Week: Nemo edition...

SG *FASHION FIX* – V-Day: What Women Want + Social Chic: Who Wore What
Photo: Journelle   I’m going to go ahead and mention it. Brace yourself. Valentine’s Day is around the corner.  I can already hear the collective groan. Or perhaps for the dwindling number of hopeless romantics, maybe a tinge of excitement?   I can’t help but remember each year in high school –  Valentine’s Day and the mixed feeling of dread and anticipation hearing a knock on our classroom door. Right around 3pm, the rose deliveries began. If you were single (like most of us were), you may get a rose from a secret admirer or your crush if you were really...

SG *FASHION FIX* – Social Chic: Who Says There's Nothing to Do in Wilmington?
Getting ready for the hospital’s annual Founders Gala last weekend in a vintage red suede dress,  clutch from Candy Shop Vintage. Hair & Makeup by Emily Wetzel  of Seagrass Salon   Whoever says there is nothing to do in Wilmington can bite their tongue.  Post-holidays can be a bit blah but by late January, the events season is in full swing elevating the dinner-and-back-home-again crowd into full fledged socialites. For a peek at last weekend’s adventures in Wilmywood (which included some creative outfit changes), see the Social Chic albums below. Enjoy the freedom that comes along with the freakin’ weekend. Hope...

SG *FASHION FIX* – Fashionably Late + 3 Ways to Wear the T-shirt Everyone Wants!
Must-Have Tee: “Sorry I’m Late” t-shirt worn by Tracy Tang Available this coming week at Blue Hand Home   There seemed to be a theme at Cindy Vach’s birthday gathering earlier this week. I predictably arrived late. Perhaps, only in honor of the birthday girl, who also is famous for being fashionably late? Nice try. Then, Tracy Tang (the owner of Blue Hand Home) arrived even later. With one glance at her t-shirt (worn under her chic black blazer), all was forgiven, drinks were ordered and everyone had a new t-shirt to add to their Pinterest or in my case, Instagram feed. Cheers to...

SG *FASHION FIX* – Photo Travel Diary: Headed North
Travel Essential: my Casey Crespo handmade, organic, fleece-lined colorblock leggings! I wore them at least three times in nine days, plus as pajama pants. They are highly addictive and the ultimate in comfort chic!   Driving north for my Nana’s funeral with overwhelming loss weighing heavy in our hearts, I couldn’t help but miss the unmistakable cadence of Buster’s bullet breath behind us in the backseat. Luckily, we had the welcome distraction of a book on CD, “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand, graciously purchased for us by our friend Steve Ward in prepartion for our long journey to Pennsylvania.   If you have yet...

SG *FASHION FIX* – 2012 Magic Moments: Looking Back Before Moving Ahead
It’s been an incredibly difficult past few weeks losing our precious dog Buster and now my beloved Nana.  I have not yet embraced moving forward into 2013 so I thought I might get inspired by first taking a look back at some of 2012’s more magical moments. Here’s hoping for brighter days. Thank you for your prayers and comforting words. xo, Jess   One of my favorite portraits of Nana from the 1940’s         2nd Annual Great Gatsby Gala     Held at The City Club  and presented this year by DreamCarSource.com this night of Jazz Age...
