Garden Party Panache – Best Dressed on the Green Carpet #gardenpartyfix
Style Girl Jess James | Fashion Fix   Garden Party day arrived 75 and sunny during Wilmington’s famous 67th annual Azalea Festival. We had the absolute pleasure of spending the day with Dan Burke, a witty British bloke and owner of The British Taxi — and I actually got to sit in the same seat as David Beckham had a few months earlier! Swooooon. We scoured Airlie Gardens and the official after parties at Dockside and Bridgetender for our favorite picks for “Best Dressed” for the FASHION FIX/Focus On The Coast Magazine contest (those in the running tagged @stylegirljj &...

A Southern Snow Style Story + Best Dressed Photos
Photo by Victor Giarrusso I could barely believe it when I woke up and there was snow (or, a white “icy mix”) on the ground – in Wilmington! What a rare treat. I could almost taste the anticipaton building from the neighborhood kids (big and small) from the cadence of their laughter and makeshift sleds dragging on the ice behind them outside our bedroom window. It felt something like Christmas morning when you knew Santa had something special waiting for you under the tree. For a city that is not really prepared for snow, we sure know how to improvise....

Style Profile: Belk’s Fashion Director’s Top 3 Trends for Spring
Belk’s VP of Trend Merchandising and Fashion Director — Arlene Goldstein I hadn’t seen Arlene Goldstein, Belk’s VP of Trend Merchandising and Fashion Direction, for at least four years but she was just as charming as I remembered when we sat down for a one-on-one interview during her visit to the Crabtree Valley Mall Belk in Raleigh this week. As a seasoned fashion veteran with more than 25 years in the industry at Parisian and Saks combined with her post at Belk, her passion and quest for new-ness is contagious. Here are her three favorite trends for Spring 2014: (To...

Time for some new britches at Charleston’s Pretend Store
STATE founder and designer Adrienne Antonson Seeing designer Adrienne Antonson’s collection STATE for the first time at Charleston Fashion Week in March 2012, you instinctively knew you were seeing something different. Between the garments’ raw beauty, sustainability and utilitarian aesthetic paired with Adrienne’s luminosity, “IT” was happening and she just just seemed so damn cool. I met Adrienne in passing that week through mutual friends but heard from her a few months later asking if she could send one of my photos she loved from her show’s finale for a piece in DailyCandy. Naturally I was flattered and secretly pleased...

PHOTOS: Best Dressed Gatsby Guests + Fall Fashion Preview Oct 5
You knew it was coming. The Fall Fashion Preview may be right around the corner but we needed one last hurrah for Gatsby mania, right? There is no better excuse for reliving one of the most enchanting evenings of the year at The City Club than the release of Lisa Brown of Bella Rose Photography’s gorgeous Gatsby photographs. Poor Lisa is in a losing battle with a major cold right now so Gatsby guests will need to hold tight for one more week until ALL the photos will be released on www.pictage.com. I’ve included some of my favorites in the...

Charleston Designer You Need to Know + WIN her earrings!
Around the time of Charleston Fashion Week, several bold textured gold rings from Christina Jervey Jewelry first caught my eye in Ayoka Lucas’s white themed spring fashion spreadin Charleston Magazine.  Next, my friend Deirdre tagged me in a photo of Christina Jervey pyramid stud earrings on Instagram knowing how I have a thing for triangles. Since then, I’ve noticed Christina’s gold structural statement pieces on the fingers and wrists of Charleston’s fashion set including the likes of Charleston Shop Curator Andrea Serrano and Look Linger Love’s Chassity Evans. Recently selected as a runner-up in Garden & Gun magazine’s“Made in the South” contest, Christina is quickly becoming a Southern designer to...
