SG *FASHION FIX* Garden Party Panache- Season Trends
Tess Wheatley  and Tiffany Taylor at The Garden Party after-party at Dockside I was graciously invited to attend The Garden Party with Dr. Mike Nichols and his beautiful wife Oz, who seduced everyone in her ultra sophisticated almost-antithesis Garden Party look – a black ALC jumpsuit from Beanie + Cecil, a Diane Fort Shagott headpiece from aMuse Artisanal Finery and her amazing Prada handbag just purchased in Vegas.   All day long , women approached her saying how stunning she looked, ”just like Audrey Hepburn” before asking her to pose for a picture.   From candy-colored stripes, jewel tones, monogrammed...

*FASHION FIX* – Highlights from Charleston Fashion Week + Spring Preview Video
Hey y’all! I’m writing this week’s FASHION FIX in Charleston via Austin. I came right from Austin’s SXSW wearing bohemian maxis and denim shorts to full-on glam at Charleston Fashion Week. As you can imagine, that was some intense packing! Six hours of deliberation and accessorizing, but who’s counting?   I promise we will resume our Top 10 essentials for Spring via the Spring Fashion Preview (watch the event video below) along with festival attire (the good along with the very bad) from Austin.   For now, I skipped tonight’s after party  to share with you a few highlights from Night #1...

SG *FASHION FIX* – Top 10 Trends for Spring: Neon + Social Chic
Last Thursday, there were far more fashionistas in Blue Hand Home than home furnishings.  In celebration of the annual FASHION FIX Spring Fashion Preview presented by Wilmington Dermatology Center, Tracy and Arnie transferred couches, dining tables, textured rugs and a menagerie of interior accents to a home they are staging to make room for a runway and a variety of pop-up shops from Wilmington’s favorite boutiques and designers.   For the next several weeks, I will share with you the Top 10 Trends for Spring we previewed that evening, starting with NEON worn to perfection by model Ozlem Nichols. This ALC “caution...

*FASHION FIX* – How a Style Swap Crisis was Averted, Swap Video + Oscars Review
Style Girl Jess James | Fashion Fix           VIDEO: Click above to watch the super fun Style Swap Charleston video produced by The Three Divas!   For the past several months, I’ve been in touch with Arielle, who works at a production company called 44 Blue based in LA. She originally contacted me after discovering the Style Swap website. She said they were intrigued with the concept as a potential for a reality-based show, and wanted to know more. They are producing their first style-based show “House of Consignment” documenting Chicago-based fashionista Corri McFadden’s online high-end consignment...

SG *FASHION FIX* – See What Look Linger Love is Bringing to Style Swap Charleston!
Style Girl Jess James | Fashion Fix     Chassity Aull Evans of Look Linger Love + the J.Crew espadrilles she is bringing to Style Swap!   Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of enjoying a honey latte with Style Swap Charleston co-hostess Chassity Aull Evans of must-read blog Look Linger Love. Not only is her blog a Pinterest junkies paradise, but apparently she also has great taste in music (I ran into her at the Avett Brothers concert two nights prior). Wink. Naturally, Chassity has a covetable wardrobe (did you catch sight of her fabulous shoes last year at Charleston Fashion...

SG *FASHION FIX* Style Girl Photo Shoot + Social Chic from Founders Gala
Style Girl Jess James | Fashion Fix       Since the Style Girl Vintage Collection now has a home both downtown at aMuse Artisanal Finery (19 South 2nd Street) and at Tickled Pink at Lumina Station, my intern (sometimes referred to as Brad to my Rachel) Michael Deininger-Bell texted me over the holidays, “Pleasssse can we take some pictures?” So, the Style Girl / FASHION FIX team (Michael, a talented emerging photographer and Juliana, my trusted do-it-all girl Friday) invaded Tayloe Gray’s new office space downtown, which was once akin to a Madame Tussaud’s take on the African safari now in transition from former...

SG *FASHION FIX* – Missoni for the Masses Madness! + Meeting Missoni Family at FNO
Style Girl Jess James | Fashion Fix       Margherita Missoni featured wearing Missoni for Target in VOGUE’s September issue   If you were one of the “lucky” ones who stormed Target this Tuesday for the launch of their Missoni line, chances are you purchased a $40 zig zagge Missoni for Target sweater or skirt that just sold to a possessed eBay shopper for a cool $130. Since 1953, the legendary Missoni fashion house has added color to the fashion landscape worldwide with its eclectic patterns, colors and textures. From September 13th to October 22nd,  Target promised to “bring Missoni’s iconic Italian lifestyle” to the masses,...

SG *FASHION FIX* – SUMMER DENIM: What to Wear NOW
You know you’ve got it bad when you’re daydreaming about denim in 105-degree weather. You can’t help but turn the heat up a notch when you’re wearing either pair of Style Girl’s favorite jeans for the season.  A summer romance is sure to ensue whether you opt for “The Drama,” Mother jeans’ 70′s revival, boho chic denim wide-leg trouser (available at Oliver) or J. Brand’s red skinny jeans (available at Beanie + Cecil), the red-hot alternative to summer’s ho-hum  staple white jeans. Here are some tips for rockin’ summer denim’s most covetable silhouettes and colors. WIDE LEG: * The vintage blue wash on The Drama looks...

SG *FASHION FIX* – What to Get Dad, Mad Men Prizes + Style Swap Photos
It’s Father’s Day this weekend. Do you have something special for dear ol’ dad?     While I’m waiting for inspiration to strike, I checked in with David Frederiksen (pictured left), Editor-in-Chief of Men, Ink (formerly Cape Fear Dad). With his larger-than-life personality (and until recently, unruly curly mop of hair), David is best known for his publicity work for New Hanover Regional Medical Center, being a mover and shaker man-about-town and ultimately, for being a dedicated dad.   ff: David, even though you’ve been busy preparing for the launch of Men Ink’s first issue in October, do you have a plan for Father’s Day? “I’m taking my...
