Summertime – Raise your hand if you need a new swimsuit!

Swimsuit season has arrived!

Even though I haven’t spent much time with the sand between my toes this summer (YET), my thoughts are moving to the sea with each waning June day signaling that summer indeed has arrived.

I recently styled the cover and swimsuit fashion spread in Focus on the Coast (see below) with Photographer Eric von Bargen writing the following intro –

“Surrounded –
in the silence of sand, feel the rythmic whisper of the sea.
The movement of the falling wave, the breeze at your back,
and salt kiss on your skin.

It’s summer beckoning us once again (to embrace this mermaid’s dance.)”

We scheduled a weekend getaway with some of our dearest friends who came for a weekend in May from D.C. to stay at Wrightsville Beach but our daydreams of leisurely naps in the warm sand were thwarted by the weekend-long monsoon. Rainbows and the very best of company became our silver lining.

Soon, I am headed to Ocean City, New Jersey where I can already taste the nostalgia of my summertime youth – morning bike rides on the boardwalk by day and trolling for “cute boys” by night, three slices of Mack n’ Manco’s – the world’s best pizza, black and white photo booths and chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream cones before scouring the Surf Mall for friendship bracelets.

I haven’t spent a week in Ocean City with my parents since I was 18 so besides the Mack n’ Manco’s pizza, I’m sure a lot has changed or stayed the same. For one, it’s still a dry town. Lucky thing we have a talented bartender in the family. Wink.

So naturally, I’ve started to think about the swimsuits to bring for each “outfit of the day.” With my adventurous mother by my beach towel, I have a feeling I will spend more time riding waves (and waving her in away from the potential sharks) than reading my summer romance.

Therefore, it’s just my luck that I ran into Cathy at Aqua Fedora who insisted I meet her friend Donna, an eastern sales rep for two amazing swimsuit lines, Sea Folly (Australia) and L Space. We quickly made plans for lunch and sangria at Ceviche’s with some sample sale shopping afterwards.

Let’s just say, swimsuits have been on my mind ever since. After sharing my pineapple printed retro-inspired two piece, the floodgates opened and every woman on Facebook (okay, maybe eighty-five) wanted to know how/where/when they could get their hot little hands on their own sample sale gem from Donna.

So, Donna and I decided to join forces and offer Wilmington ladies the opportunity to shop Sea Folly and L Space swimsuits at sample sale prices along with a little vintage on the side. Between these two lines, you will find full coverage retro inspired full suits to skimpy string bikinis and everything in between. Find us this coming Tuesday, June 16th from 6-9pm at Style Girl Vintage at 21 Market Street, 2nd floor. We will have something cool to drink, light bites and a few gorgeous models on hand to try on the swimsuits you might rather try on at home in front of your own full length mirror.

Vintage purchases can be made via credit card, but swimsuits are cash and check ONLY so please come prepared. These swimsuits retail for $100-$200 so this one-night-only sale will feature MAJOR DEALS for your summer swim fix. Sample sizes are size small, which tend to fit XS-Med. There is only one of most styles so it’s in your best interest to arrive on the early side to get first dibs, but there is plenty of fantastic suits to go around! Sample sale pricing is as follows:

One piece swimsuits: $45
Bikinis $50 ($25 per piece)
Tankini Top $30
Short Cover-Up $30
Long Cover-Up $40
Beach Hats / Visors / Fedoras $20

Sea Folly totes with purchase (while supplies last).
