We’re always so focused on what the women are wearing that we tend to overlook the guys. What can men do to step up their style this season?
Spending time in Charleston during Fashion Week, I noticed the women were looking good but the men were looking even better. In taking a few style cues from Charlie (the sharp-dressed men in Charleston), here’s a few things to keep in mind before reaching for that standard t-shirt and jeans:

- Having a bad hair day? Try wearing a fedora or bowler hat to add a touch of swagger.
- Switch out the white handkerchief in your breast pocket for a printed silk scarf.
- Roll up your sleeves and show a little wrist action.
- Bowties are not just for Orville Redenbacher. They are an IT factor accessory. Build your outfit around your bowtie of choice. While you’re at it, add some designer specs.
- If you don’t own a vest, it’s time to invest – immediately.
- Mix it up. Wear classic pieces like a trench, white dress shirt and tie with skinny jeans and high-tops. Or, a tuxedo jacket with a v-neck tee.
- Military chic is in. Try a Sergeant Pepper-style blazer or for a more subdued take, a button down shirt with epaulets (look it up).
- Most importantly, dress to complement your woman. If she looks like she could stop traffic, you’ve got to elicit at least a double-take.
