STYLE GIRL “FASHION FIX” - Watch video of Project Runway designer Carol Hannah
| MEET CAROL HANNAH
Southern sweetheart. Designer darling. That’s our Carol Hannah. As sweet as she is, we agree with Tim Gunn - that Carol Hannah is also full of surprises. To the crowd - both young and young-at-heart - that turned out for her Wilmington debut trunk show at Ziabird last week, the overwhelming response was the same: “I can’t believe how nice and down-to-earth she is!”Rumor has it we’re not the only ones who’s taken with Carol Hannah. There’s been a buzz online about a potential flirtation between Carol Hannah and Project Runway’s first “hottie” male designer - Logan. In case you were looking for something beyond the designer challenges to hold your attention, stay tuned - Thursdays 10pm on Lifetime. And, her designs did not disappoint. Her jewel-toned color palette and feminine aesthetic translated perfectly in her comfy chic line, featuring one shoulder jersey Grecian-inspired dresses (which I will be wearing in pink to Lumina Station’s Pink Party!), intricate draping in all the right places and transitional flowy scarves that morph from a scarf to a wrap to a vest.

| THINK PINK
Legendary fashion editor Diana Vreeland famously stated, “Pink is the navy blue of India.” In America, Pink is the new black - at least during the month of October. Nationwide, women and men are stepping out in pink to show their support for breast cancer research and to raise awareness to the cause. Yes, I did mention men - including the jock set. Brett Favre, whose wife is a breast cancer survivor, donned his new purple Vikings uniform Monday night and accessorized with pink cleats. Now, that’s a touchdown. For some tips on how to incorporate pink into your everyday ensemble this month, check out the stylemavens at last night’s Pink Ribbon Benefit dinner Tips for Wearing Pink: 1) If you’re pink-shy, try wearing it as an accent color. Add a pop of pink to a black & white ensemble by adding a pink accessory - pink shoes, a printed pink scarf, pink handbag or jewelry.
2) Try a fresh pink color combo: besides black & white, try pink with brown, red, gray or turquoise. 3) Try a fresh shade of pink lipstick or nailpolish. 4) Make a $10 contribution to the Pink Ribbon Project and receive a pink hair extension from local salons Bangz or Harbour Club. All proceeds stay local. Make a statement in pink and show your support for the cause. Wear your “Pretty in Pink” look Thursday, October 22nd at Lumina Station’s Pink Party for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate at Lumina!

HOLIDAY MAKEOVER CONTEST aMuse For Shoes/Sierra Leone Fundraiser
You pick the date for your makeover special occasion -
1) Please CLICK HERE to make a donation via PayPal. 3) Call Jan at 910.397.9099 to make a donation via credit card. WHY IT’S GLAMOROUS TO GIVE: Local Milliner Jan Wutkowski has a holiday wish to send her dear friend, Glen Leasure, to war-torn Sierra Leone. Glen, a skilled shoemaker, philosopher and mentor, who Jan descibes as being “one with the Earth” was asked by the non-governmental organization Child Help Sierra Leone to teach shoemaking in Sierra Leone, West Africa in January 2010.
Diseases are rampant and treatment is largely unavailable. Shoeing the shoeless will save lives by providing protection from disease. Glen’s students will primarily be women, who are the most disadvantaged, suffering from the scars of abuse and isolation.
On Glen’s behalf, to raise funds for this sojourn (with fees including airfare, shots, medications and food) Jan Wutkowski and I are asking our fashionista friends for help.
On November 1, we will draw a winner!
