STYLE GIRL “FASHION FIX” – Street Chic + Videos + Holiday Events
STREET CHIC: Style Profile on Elaine Jack

elaine jack - sapona

I spotted Elaine Jack, co-owner of Sapona Green Building Center, at Buena’s first “Wilmington Inspired” meeting Wednesday afternoon and was drawn in by her effortless, eclectic style. Turns out she’s also a neighbor!

SEEN WEARING:

Eggplant Sweater(worn layered over a black long-sleeve top):
“I picked it up a few months ago at Return Passage to update my wardrobe.”
Necklace: “My mom got it for me in Samos, Greece. At the time she got it for me, my son was at a age where he was always pulling on my jewelry. The leather cord makes it “Leo-proof!”
Dark Denim Jeans: Fairy Circle
Ruched Gray Fold-Over Boots: Steve Madden from Zappos
Glasses: Guess at Vision Works
“I bought these about five years ago, but I like these better than my new pair.”
Purse: “It’s a line called “Cute as a Button” that has a variety of vintage buttons sewn onto it. It’s from a store called Bloom in Newark, DE that specializes in sustainable products.”

STYLE MANTRA:

“I like to wear clothing that reflects my lifestyle and my environment. Since I’m at Sapona all day, I wear things that are organic, comfortable and fit in with the architectural elements and stylish products around me. Looking put together makes me feel more professional. Now my husband is a different story!”

jonnie - inspired ilm meeting
Jonnie Sharp, founder of Buena, leading the first “Wilmington Inspired” meeting wearing a flowy Missoni-style knit sweater Style Girl found for her at Edge of Urge.

FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP:

” I try to buy natural and recycled products as much as possible. I love the sense of discovery shopping at resale shops like Return Passage, Flashbax… and I love Bargain Box. I feel you shouldn’t have to spend so much for clothes.

ON THE HUNT FOR:

“I’m always on the look-out for the perfect shawl, wrap or cozy sweater since I’m always cold. I’d like to find one with feminine ruffles.”

STYLE TIPS:

  • “Think about what you’re buying – where was it made, what is it made of?”

  • “Shop for what looks best on you. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in buying something just because it’s trendy right now.

  • “For each new piece you purchase, try to get rid of one thing (recycle).”

  • “Find at least one scarf you love. They are great for accessorizing; a must-have for me.”

Toni Martin, the winner of James + Dunne’s “Fall Fabulous Package” given away at the Fall Fashion Preview, came from Raleigh to spend the day in  Wilmington. She was pampered from head to toe at Bangz with a massage, facial, manicure and pedicure before taking a seat in Matt’s chair for a super flattering highlight, cut and style. She then headed to Personal Touch (with a crew of her Wilmington friends) where Jess and Shannon had carefully chosen a selection of “fall fabulous” looks for her to try along with a makeup session with Phoebe Herron.
