Garden Party Panache 2016: Who Wore it Best on the Green Carpet

It all begins with the hat at the Azalea Festival Garden Party
Alisa Coble, Cate Piech, Kristie Pate

Another Azalea Festival Garden Party has come and gone. And, soon the azalea petals will fall. Before we spring ahead, I thought we’d take one last look at scenes from Friday’s “green carpet” coverage at Airlie Gardens.

We started our day getting glam with Trish McEvoy artists at my friend Lisa Sledzik’s beautiful home. When the last lovely lady in our group was ready, we helped my friend Susannah, who is a Regional Director for Trish McEvoy and based in Charleston, get ready for her very first Garden Party experience.

After we decided on Susannah’s accessories, Juliana put the finishing touch on us both – the gorgeous floral crowns I picked up the day before from Kristy at Eco Chic Blossoms. With fresh blooms in place, we were officially ready to frolic under the 467-year-old Azalea Oak.

With so much surrounding the event rooted in tradition – some good (the belles, the Citadel soldiers, the natural beauty) and some not so good (the lackluster food, the hangover!), the overall feeling is a palpable buzz in the air, Wilmington’s official celebration to kick off the Spring. Photographer Lisa Brown, another Garden Party first-timer, described the experience on Facebook as “one of the cool things we do in the South!” Now, why haven’t the Southern Charm producers figured out this shoot location yet?

Naturally, my favorite part of the day is seeing what everyone is wearing and not just the ladies. This is one event where the men really step up their Southern style game a notch wearing bright color, mixed prints, florals, Bermuda short suits and even floral toppers. I especially enjoyed seeing so many friends & clients looking “green carpet” gorgeous in their Garden Party frocks from Style Girl Vintage.

As for the Spring social season, it’s just kicking off with Wine, Women & Shoes this Thursday night (get your ticket now to support our local Make a Wish kids). Style Girl Vintage will be one of the featured vendors so please come see me. And, wait for it – I am actually hosting a fashion show again. Finally, right? Please mark your calendars for “That 70’s (FASHION) Show” inspired by Gucci S/S 2016 being held Thursday May 12th at Scooter’s Roller Rink. Get ready for a little Thursday Night Fever!

Till next time, sweet Azaleas!

Special thank you to all my friends and family (my sweet, sneaky parents surprised me AGAIN by driving from NJ to attend!) who came out to celebrate Style Girl Vintage’s 1 Year Anniversary at 21 Market Street. If you were not able to make it but have shopped with me this past year, I greatly appreciate your support. And if you haven’t been, what are you waiting for?! Would love to have you over. xo

L: With my beautiful bestie Shannon Dunne.
R: Jewelry Designer Melissa Tyson came and shopped the 50% off sale and presented me with this gorgeous raw emerald (first time I have ever worn my birthstone ) & rose gold ring (below). I had the pleasure of co-designing this custom piece with Melissa. The story on our collaboration is coming soon to the Fashion Fix. Check out her work – you’ll 💗 it!
