Fashion Editorial: What to Wear to the 1st Gatsby Lawn Party

As I write this into the wee hours of the morning, I can hear the rythmn of the rain streaming from the drainpipe now that I’ve finally given my new Netflix obsession Hell on Wheels a break (for now). I have a feeling we might all be indulging in a Netflix marathon (I recommend Peaky Blinders, Hell on Wheels & Longmire – in that order!) with Hurricane Joaquin beating a path to the coast. Rain for days and whipping wind? I say, BRING IT ON! Have I lost my mind? No, dear friends. I am planning Wilmington’s first Gatsby Lawn Party so I’m hoping (fingers crossed) we will be all rained out by October 17th and everyone will be eager to frolic on the grass just in time for this lovely 1920’s inspired soiree.

This event has a different, more romantic vibe from my Great Gatsby Gala formal event I’ve hosted the last four years. Along with my dear friend & presenting sponsor Pat Kusek of Kusek Financial Group, we decided it was time for a change. And luckily, Paula Corbett has graciously invited us to celebrate this new beginning on her gorgeous lawn off Airlie Road.

For our official Gatsby Lawn Party lookbook / guide on What to Wear, I partnered once again with the incredibly talented Lisa Brown of Bella Rose Photography on our latest Gatsby editorial, which I am so looking forward to sharing with you (below). Thank you again to Paula & Albert Corbett for allowing us to spend the day at your home with our gorgeous models Ella Richardson, Josh Robinson and our Daisy, Logan Brantley. Shout-out to Hannah, Natalie and Maari at Beauty Bar Boutique for making our models look like the bee’s knees. And, please note that Beauty Bar will be offering one Gatsby hairstyle (similar to our Daisy) on their Style Bar menu the day of the event (15 minutes for $20!)

Next week, I’ll share tips (along with the contents of Little Pond Catering’s basket lunch for two) on How to Picnic like Gatsby. Can’t wait to see you alll on the lawn! Till then, please don’t miss our Pre-Gatsby Lawn Party Shop + Sip next Thursday October 8th at James Zisa Attorneys office at 709 Princess Street for one-stop Gatsby shopping! Shop curated 1920’s & inspired clothing and accessories from Gatsby sponsors A Second Time Around, Style Girl Vintage & Elizabeth’s Tres Chic along with specialty drinks (including a Zisa zinger!) by Joel Finsel of Astral Cocktails / Manna.

Stay safe + let me know if you are also swooning over Cullen Bohannan (Hell on Wheels) – guys included! xo
