STYLE GIRL “FASHION FIX”
Style Girl Jess James | Fashion Fix Margherita Missoni featured wearing Missoni for Target in VOGUE’s September issue If you were one of the “lucky” ones who stormed Target this Tuesday for the launch of their Missoni line, chances are you purchased a $40 zig zagge Missoni for Target sweater or skirt that just sold to a possessed eBay shopper for a cool $130. Since 1953, the legendary Missoni fashion house has added color to the fashion landscape worldwide with its eclectic patterns, colors and textures. From September 13th to October 22nd, Target promised to “bring Missoni’s iconic Italian lifestyle” to the masses,...
Style Girl Jess James | Fashion Fix With the Great Gatsby Gala only a night away, I thought it only fitting I share with you the deco-inspired Savoy bracelet I just purchased from Jewelmint, my latest obsession. It resembles a bracelet made from vintage shoe clips by Lulu Frost for J. Crew I coveted last season for over $100. The Jewelmint version, designed and curated by actress Kate Bosworth and Hollywood stylist Cher Coulter, is only $29.99, along with every other piece in their collection (per month) purchased by Jewelmint members. This customized jewelry club starts off with a style quiz determining if...

My new intern Danielle Dewar recently spent some time in Manhattan. Instead of following up with pretty young things that made the pilgrimage from Wilmington to New York, she decided to profile her latest style icon, which happens to be her best friend’s grandmother. Since Closet Confessions originally debuted with a style profile on my own Nana and I’m an enthusiastic champion for all young-at-heart women with “Advanced Style,” I was all about it! Take it away, Danielle - Just four years ago I met my best friend Caitlin, in which a friendship was born...
I recently spent some time with Fashion Designer and former Wilmington resident Amanda deLeon in her adopted home in New Orleans. It’s hard to forget her avant garde designs, creative mind and platinum blond hair. This Louisiana native is now a redhead, but swears, “I’ve had my hair every color of the rainbow and I’m still the same person.” Several recent highlights include a potential editorial in Vogue Japan, a nod on UK blog kingdomofstyle and now, she’s preparing for the next NOLA Fashion Week in October. Amanda’s future may be looking bright, but she still wears the same shades....
Who knew you had to escape to New Orleans to beat the heat. As Joel mixed up his signature “Moonshine Smash” (try it at Manna) at The Hotel Monteleone for Tales of the Cocktail, I reconnected with two former Wilmington stylemavens – fashion designer Amanda deLeon and Helen Howell, Island Passage’s favorite calendar girl in 85-degree weather while the rest of the North and Southeast sweltered. In preparing for any hot-weather holiday, I made sure to include a new favorite dress (a Mike Gonzalez dress from Oliver with pyramid detailing), a pair of statement earrings (Iosselliani earrings from Beanie + Cecil), my favorite...
